Our approach

Our approach to softgel contract manufacturing

Great softgels don’t happen by accident. They come out of an intricate, consistent process. Here is how we work with our clients.

Gowned production areas
01

Collaborate early

We start by understanding your product goals, target consumer, ingredients, and timeline. Our formulation team flags stability, fill compatibility, and shell considerations before you commit, so there are fewer surprises later.

02

Formulate with purpose

Whether you have a finished formula or need help developing one, we build your formulation around real-world performance: ingredient compatibility, viscosity, oxidation risk, and label-claim accuracy.

03

Controlled manufacturing

We manufacture softgels using strict cGMP practices and guidelines to ensure your product stays true to spec. Every batch follows approved master manufacturing records and written procedures.

04

Verify before release

Nothing ships until it passes our quality review. Raw materials and finished products are tested against established specifications, and our Quality Team reviews every batch.

05

Communicate throughout

You get a dedicated project manager, clear production timelines, and complete documentation, including Certificates of Analysis, with every order.

Why softgels

Why brands and consumers prefer softgels

Softgels are one of the most versatile delivery forms in the supplement industry, and a perfect choice for oil-based and liquid formulas.

01

Easy to consume

The smooth, glossy exterior shell is easier for many people to swallow than tablets, which can support a better daily experience with your product.

02

Ideal for oils and liquids

Softgels are designed to hold liquid and oil-based fills such as fish oil, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin E, CoQ10, and botanical extracts that are difficult to deliver in tablets or powders.

03

Sealed protection

A hermetically sealed shell helps protect sensitive ingredients from air and light exposure, supporting stability through the product’s shelf life.

04

Accurate, consistent dosing

Liquid fills are measured precisely during the encapsulation process, supporting uniform content from softgel to softgel.

05

Taste and odor masking

Softgels can mask certain tastes and odors that may deter consumers from taking a product.

06

Shelf appeal

Custom colors, sizes, shapes, and clear or opaque shells give your product a premium look that stands out.

Quality

Quality built into every step

Quality is not a final checkpoint. It is part of how we receive, make, test, and release every product.

Controlled drying rooms
  1. NSF/ANSI 455-2 GMP certification

Our facility is certified to NSF/ANSI 455-2, NSF’s Good Manufacturing Practices standard for dietary supplements. NSF independently audits our operations against Good Manufacturing Practice requirements, giving your brand a third-party-verified manufacturing partner.

  2. cGMP compliance (21 CFR Part 111)

We operate under the FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations for dietary supplements, including written protocols, trained personnel, controlled facilities, and full batch records.

  3. Identity and quality testing

Identity testing of incoming source ingredients; microbiological, heavy metals, and potency testing as specified; oxidation testing for oils; and softgel-specific checks for fill weight, disintegration, hardness, and seal integrity.

  4. Supplier qualification

We qualify raw material suppliers and require documentation such as Certificates of Analysis, which we verify through our own or third-party testing.

  5. Full traceability

Every lot is traceable from raw material receipt to finished goods shipment, with retained samples kept for reference.

  6. Controlled environment

Temperature- and humidity-controlled encapsulation and drying rooms, documented cleaning and sanitation programs, and routine environmental monitoring.

  7. Quality unit oversight

Our independent Quality Unit reviews and approves every batch record before release. No exceptions.

Your brand’s reputation is in every bottle. We treat it that way.

FAQ

Questions brands ask us first

Have a different question? Contact our team to discuss your formula, manufacturing requirements, or a facility tour.

What does NSF cGMP certification mean?

It means NSF — an independent third-party organization — has audited our facility and confirmed that our operations meet current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for dietary supplements. NSF conducts ongoing audits to maintain certification.

Does NexCaps’ NSF GMP certification mean my product is NSF Certified?

No. Our GMP certification covers our manufacturing operations only. NSF product certification — such as NSF Certified for Sport — is a separate program for individual products. We are happy to support brands pursuing product certification.

What is your minimum order quantity?

Minimum order quantities depend on your formula, shell, and packaging requirements. Contact NexCaps with your project details to confirm the minimum for your product.

How long does a typical project take?

Project timelines depend on formulation, ingredient availability, testing, and packaging. Contact NexCaps for an estimated schedule for your product.

Can you make vegetarian or vegan softgels?

Yes. We offer plant-based shell options alongside bovine, porcine, and fish gelatin.

Can you work with my existing formula?

Yes. We review your formula for softgel compatibility and recommend adjustments if needed.

Do you provide Certificates of Analysis?

Yes. Every finished lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis.

Can you help with label claims?

We provide documentation to support label accuracy. Your brand remains responsible for label claims and structure/function statements, and we recommend regulatory review before launch.
